Almost 70% of Doctors Believe Cannabis Has Medicinal Value

According to a new survey released in May, the majority of doctors in the United States believe cannabis has medicinal value. The survey was published in the Cannabis and Cannabinoids Research journal and shows that almost 70% of the doctors that participated believe cannabis can be used as medicine and more than 26% said that they have recommended cannabis to some of their patients.

More Information On Medical Cannabis Is Needed

The researchers reached the conclusion that despite cannabis being truly helpful in some cases, some doctors may not understand the scientific evidence and not fully understand how cannabis works, this is why it’s needed to educate health professionals even further. Now, the results are not a surprise.

Due to medical cannabis being now legal in more than 30 states across the US, more and more patients actually ask their doctors to prescribe medical cannabis and among all the participants, an overwhelming majority of patients and doctors believe that medical cannabis is a legitimate medicine that can be used to treat nausea, lack of appetite, seizures, and spasticity among other things, so politicians should support not only medical but also recreational cannabis.

Another in-depth analysis on CBD use in the United States reports that CBD is primarily used for pain management, relaxing, and general wellness, with the majority of consumers that use CBD for relaxation being under 35 and those who use it to manage pain 55 or older, with oils and tinctures being the most popular administration method, followed by topicals, edibles, drinks, vaping and capsules, in the order mentioned.

CBD Consumers Are “Highly Satisfied”

Almost 92% of medical users reported having a good impression of CBD after the first use and out of that percentage, 71% have recommended it to a relative or friend. The survey concluded that the majority of the participants consumed CBD daily and were highly satisfied with the products, claiming that it indeed has valid medical uses. Surprisingly, the majority of the group was uninformed about the cannabis market and cannabis in general and around 20% were not interested in learning more. Despite the lack of information, most consumers were able to identify the ability to sleep better, reduce anxiety and relieve stress when consuming CBD.

The survey reported that almost half of the participants did not have a preferred CBD product brand, meaning that as the legal cannabis market continues to grow and more products emerge, CBD brands and sellers will have plenty of consumers and, due to the increasing legalization, will be able to advertise their products just like any other mainstream product in the market, increasing, even more, the popularity of CBD products.
