U.S. Hemp Seed Update: New Deadline December 11

Some positive updates for the U.S. cannabis seed industry: President Trump has signed H.R. 6500, temporarily delaying the implementation of new federal hemp restrictions affecting viable cannabis seeds until December 11, 2026.

The extension gives the cannabis seed industry additional time to work toward a permanent legislative solution that would specifically protect the legal status of non-intoxicating cannabis seeds under federal law.

For our U.S. customers, the most important part is that there are no immediate changes. For now, we continue operating in the U.S. as usual.

This extension is good news, but the work is not over yet.

The next major goal for the industry is securing a permanent seed carve-out before the December 11 deadline, providing long-term legal clarity for cannabis seeds rather than another temporary solution.

We’ll continue following the situation closely and keeping our U.S. community updated as things develop.
